JLH Consulting Inc. is a recirculating aquaculture systems design and engineering firm.
We design integrated production systems for commercial operators planning new builds or major upgrades.
Our work is anchored by RASWAY®, a patented plug flow raceway system developed to reduce energy demand, capital intensity, and operating complexity through system level design.
This is not consulting for incremental fixes.
This is engineering for long term operations.
Most recirculating aquaculture systems are assembled, not engineered.
Conventional RAS design typically centers on individual components.
Round tanks, pumps, oxygenation units, and filtration are selected and connected in sequence. Each component may perform well on its own, but the system as a whole carries unnecessary energy load, operational friction, and cost.
Multiple pumping stages.
High head requirements.
Fragmented water movement and uneven water quality.
These design choices compound over time. Energy demand rises. Operator burden increases. Production efficiency erodes.
The issue is not that conventional RAS does not work.
The issue is that it is rarely designed as a unified hydraulic system.
RASWAY® is a patented plug flow raceway system developed by JLH Consulting.
Instead of relying on isolated tanks, RASWAY® creates controlled circular motion zones within raceways. These zones function as virtual tanks while maintaining continuous plug flow through the system.
The system is designed on a single plane.
Water is pumped once, at ultra low head.
Hydraulics, oxygenation, solids management, and circulation are designed together rather than stacked.
RASWAY® is not a component.
It is a system architecture.
This approach allows full utilization of water volume, consistent water quality, and materially lower energy demand compared to conventional multi stage RAS layouts.
We realize you have plenty of options out there. What makes us your best choice for handling all of your RAS solutions? We offer the following:
We understand what it means to be in the RAS industry, and we have an acute awareness of what farmers need.
For owners and operators, system architecture shows up as day to day reality.
Lower pumping head reduces energy demand across the entire facility.
Simplified hydraulics reduce failure points and maintenance burden.
Uniform water quality supports predictable production conditions.
RASWAY® systems are designed to scale without adding proportional complexity.
Additional production volume does not require multiplying pumps, tanks, and control points.
The result is a system that is easier to operate, easier to maintain, and better aligned with long term cost control.
Engineering decisions are made with operators in mind, not just equipment specifications.
John is the consummate professional. He says what he can and will do and then does it. His knowledge regarding RAS systems is vast and his skill at designing them is world class. He is impressive.
